Gordon B. "Gordy" Ressler, age 91 of Leola, formerly of Paradise, passed away at the Lancaster General Hospital on Friday, April 29, 2016. He was the husband of the late Ruth A. Wenger Ressler, who passed away on June 15, 2010. He was born in Paradise, son of the late Paul M. & Amy Benner Ressler.
He was a member of the St. John's United Methodist Church of Paradise, where in the past he was a choir member and a Trustee. Along with his father he owned and operated Paul M. Ressler & Son, which then became Paradise Supply. He also worked for the State Treasury Dept. as an Investigator and was an Auctioneer. In the past Gordy served as Fire Chief for the Paradise Leaman Place Fire Company for over 25 years. He was a past Paradise Township Supervisor, member of the Paradise Sportsman Association and the Christiana Masonic Lodge #417 F. & A.M. He was awarded the Service to Mankind Award by the Eastern Lancaster County Sertoma Club. He enjoyed horseback riding, riding motorcycle, hunting, fishing and going to the family cabin in Tioga County. Gordy was known in the area as a Water Dowser.
Surviving are 2 children: Debra J. wife of the late John S. Fisher of Leola, G. Kent husband of the late Debra Pike Ressler of Ronks, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will take place from the St. John's United Methodist Church, 3001 Lincoln Highway East, Paradise, PA on Saturday, May 7th at 11 a.m. with a viewing time from 10 a.m. until time of service. Rev. Eugene Errickson will be officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. There will also be a viewing on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Shivery Funeral Home, 3214 Lincoln Highway East, Paradise, PA, with a service by the Christiana Masonic Lodge at 8 p.m. Please omit flowers; contributions may be made to the St. John's U.M.
