In Deep Regrets The Paradise Leaman Place Fire Company Announces The Death Of Life Member Jack Wettig. He Was Current Fire Police Lt. Officer. He Is A Past Fire Police Captain And Fire Company President. Please Keep The Wettig Family In Your Thoughts And Prayers. Jack E. Wettig, Sr., age 83 of Ronks, PA, passed away at the Lancaster Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Sherman J. & Anna M. Bullock Wettig. He was a member of Leacock Presbyterian Church. He was a custodian for Conestoga Valley and Pequea Valley School Districts. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a life member of the Paradise Leaman Place Fire Company where he was Captain of the Fire Police. He was a member of the Gap V.F.W. He enjoyed golf and anything that involved veterans and the fire company. He is survived by 3 children: Tracy L. wife of Darell L. Dippner of Ronks, Denise A. wife of Jeff A. Harrigle of Lancaster, Jack E. Wettig, Jr. companion of Chris Jacobs of Middletown, PA, 8 grandchildren: Chad, Rob, Jason, Mary, Katlyn and Ronnie Dippner, Anton Colkitt, Adrie Sweigart, 4 great grandchildren: Eugene & Griffin Sweigart, Ethan & Landon Dippner. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Sherman & Carl Wettig. Funeral service will take place from the Leacock Presbyterian Church, 3181 Lincoln Highway East, Paradise, PA on Monday, June 24th at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert Birch officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery of Lancaster with military honors by the Red Rose Honor Guard. Gary L. Walter, 58, (Big Dummy) of New Providence, died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Penn State Milton Hershey Medical Center following a long illness. Known by nearly everyone as Big Dummy, he graduated from Pequea Valley High School in 1972. Big Dummy worked as a bartender at many restaurants in the Lancaster area. He volunteered with Paradise Leaman Place Fire Company and served as Fire Chief from 1983-1984. Big Dummy was a member of the Ancient Order of Croaking Frogs and the Benner Shoff Post No. 865, American Legion, Christiana. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late J. Daniel and Kathryn (Harris) Walter. He is survived by two brothers, John married to Lois Walter of Pinopolis, SC, and Ronald married to Peg Walter of Lancaster; three sisters, Jane married to Bernard Links of Lewes, DE, Cindy married to John Trout of Paradise and Mitzi married to Tim Headings of East Petersburg and many nieces and nephews.
