Tonight (Monday Night) Chief 47, Assistant 47-2 & Captain 47-1 Traveled To Strasburg Fire Company To Received Our 15 New Portable Radios & Chargers Which Were Purchased Through A Regional FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant. This Grant Included The Strasburg Fire Co., Gap Fire Co, Paradise-Leaman Place Fire Co., Kinzer Fire Co., Christiana Fire Co. and Willow Street Fire Co.
By applying for a regional grant as opposed to a traditional single fire company we were able to show a cooperative effort among 6 fire companies. This effort allowed us to purchase over 100 portable radios among us. The $280,000 grant provided 90% of the funds ($252,000) while we provided 10% matching funds ($28,000).
The Paradise Leaman Place Fire Company Was Able To Receive 15 Portable Radio's For The Personnel On Our Front Line Pieces As The Rescue & Engine. The Radio's Are Going To Be Compatible To The LCWC Radio System. We Will Need To Purchase 15 To 20 More for The Squads, Boat's, Brush & Chief's As Well As Fire Police At The Cost Of $2,400.00 Each. These radios will go into service on the County's new radio system when it is turned on.
