Pequea Valley senior Candace Cosgrove arrived at her prom at the Eden Resort in unique fashion Friday — riding in the Paradise Leaman Place Fire Company's rescue truck.
"It was amazing. I never did anything like this before," said Cosgrove, who has Down syndrome.
"It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do something like this that everyone's going to remember," said her father, Patrick Cosgrove, the department's chief.
He said he had Candace ask permission from all the assistant and deputy chiefs first.
"After all four chiefs said yes, she was like, 'Yeah!' She was all excited," he said.
And arriving by truck was fitting: Candace has grown up helping out at fire company activities, he said
